In 1995 Mr. Holland founded and is currently CEO of Ascend HR Solutions, an HR outsourcing company. Ascend was listed as #17 in Inc. Magazine’s Inc 500 list in 2000 and has been included in the Utah 100 ten different times. The Company was honored as the 8th largest revenue increase of all companies in Utah in 2010. Mark is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Intermountain Staffing, one of the Mountain West’s largest staffing companies. Since joining Intermountain in 1992, the company has grown from four offices in one state to 21 branches in 6 states.
Mark co-championed the Global Leadership Conference training for forum officers for YPO (Young Presidents’ Organization) in Melbourne, Australia in 2015. This training brought current best practices from around the world to YPO presidents all over the world. YPO has over 20,000 leaders worldwide. In addition Holland has trained local chapters and forums on forum best practices.
Mr. Holland is the Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Utah State University. Mark is the outgoing Chapter Chair for the Utah Chapter of the YPO Gold. He currently serves on the Steering Committee for Our Schools Now and Education First. He was the past Chair for the National Advisory Board for the Business College at Utah State University. He was instrumental in raising funds for the new Business Building during his chairmanship. Mark is a past board member of the Children’s Center, which provides help for young troubled kids. Mark was awarded the Utah State University Spirit of Old Main Award, Next Generation in 2008. He was past Chapter Chair for the Utah Chapter of Young Presidents’ Organization. Mark has served as a Board Member for Single Moms’ Foundation, Ballet West and past president of the Utah Staffing Association. In addition he has held many other positions in the community and his church where he remains active.
He and his wife Wendi live with their four children, Madeline 19, Douglas 17, Samantha 15, and Elizabeth 11 in Bountiful, Utah. Mark and Wendi have traveled throughout the world including extensive travel through the Middle East.
From 1982 to 1987 Mr. Holland completed an undergraduate degree and Masters of Business Administration at Utah State University. During that period he served as Organizations’ Vice President, Student Alumni President, and Senior Class President. He received the Claude J. Burtenshaw Outstanding Student Leadership Scholarship.
For the next several years, he worked as a financial advisor, finishing up at PaineWebber, now UBS.
From there he went on to Globesat Holding Corporation, a small, publicly traded technology company, as President for two years. During his employment there, the company sold three subsidiaries that had consistently lost money, successfully licensed its technology to several large corporations and had its first profitable year during its seven year history.
