Vance is the senior executive for Dell EMC in Utah, a significant entity within Dell Technologies, the largest privately-controlled IT company in the world. Under his leadership Utah operations have exceeded expectations for growth and delivery of real value for Dell EMC and their customers. There are approximately 1,300 team members in the state, most of them in a new building in Draper City’s transit-oriented Vista Station business park. Vance’s responsibilities also include a 500,000 sqft data center and other operations in North Carolina, as well as close coordination with large centers in India, China, Ireland, Israel and Egypt. Vance is the executive sponsor for various initiatives, including 10 different employee diversity groups. He has been with EMC since 2007, when EMC acquired Mozy, a cloud backup technology business. As the COO of Mozy, Vance helped drive triple-digit revenue growth and a significant transformation of their operations, security and customer service functions. Prior to Mozy Vance worked at several other high-tech firms, including 10 years at Oracle in Silicon Valley, WordPerfect, Novell and several start-ups. Vance has a BA and an MBA from Brigham Young University. He serves on multiple boards and executive committees, including Governor Herbert’s Economic Council, Talent Ready Utah, STEM Action Center, Silicon Slopes, Utah Technology Council, Women Tech Council, Junior Achievement, and the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce.
