Marla Trollan was named SBA’s District Director for the Utah District Office in November 2017. As Director, she is the Chief Executive Officer responsible for directing the expansion and delivery of SBA’s various loan and business training services throughout the State of Utah.
Marla has an extensive background in communications, outreach and partnerships, serving in various senior-level positions for multiple federal agencies where she provided leadership and supervision of external relations, public affairs, media, Congressional and legislative affairs, partnerships, state liaisons, digital communications, printing, and FOIA.
Prior to her current position, Marla was the Director of Strategic Communications and External Relations for the U.S. Forest Service Intermountain Region in Ogden, UT. She also served as the Director of External Affairs for the U.S. Forest Service Rocky Mountain Region in Golden, CO. In addition, while living in Colorado, she worked for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Mountain-Prairie Region as the Director for External Affairs for several years.
During the course of her career, Marla worked for corporate NOAA’s Line Office of Planning, Program and Integration as the Director of Communications during the development of the NOAA’s Next Generation Strategic Plan (25-Year Plan); National Outreach Coordinator for NOAA Fisheries Service; Regional Partnership Coordinator for the U.S. Forest Service Intermountain Region; Regional Outreach Coordinator for NOAA Fisheries Service Northeast Region; Director of Public Affairs for the Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council; and Public Information Officer for the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Commissioner’s Office.
Marla earned her Master’s Degree in Public Administration (MPA) and her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism from the University of Oregon. She lives in Mountain Green, Utah, and enjoys spending time outdoors recreating with her husband, son, and daughter.
